Directors
Rod Harden
Rod Harden is the Director of Bands at Marshall County High School. He is currently in his 7th year as a music educator (4th at MCHS). He graduated from the University of Memphis in December 2009 with a Bachelor Degree in Music Education. His professors included Allen Rippe, Dr. Nicholas Holland, Dr. Kraig Williams and Dr. Albert Nguyen. He is currently a member of MTSBOA, NAfME, and TEA.
At the University of Memphis, he was a member of the "Mighty Sound of the South" Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and the "Mighty Sound of the South" Basketball Band. He also was a marching band tech to the MSS Marching Band from 2007-2008.
Prior to his appointment at Marshall County High, Mr. Harden served as Director of Bands at Hillcrest High School from 2013-14 and Director of Bands & Asst. Director of Bands at Ripley Middle School and Ripley High School from 2010-12. In Spring 2012, his 8th Grade middle school band participated in the WTSBOA Concert Band Festival and scored an Excellent rating.
Mr. Harden currently lives in Lewisburg, TN, is a member of the Maury County Community Band, and enjoys watching movies.

Tara Thorne
Tara Thorne is the color guard instructor for the Marshall County High School Marching Band. She came to MCHS from Bolivar Central High School in Bolivar, TN and is currently in her 11th year as a Spanish educator. She previously taught at Chester County High School in Henderson for two years, and she was also the colorguard coordinator for the CCHS Marching Eagles. Ms. Thorne, originally from Arkansas, and came to Tennessee to attend Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, where she was active in the music program, though she wasn’t a music major. She was a member of the now retired group Sonshine Singers for two years, and the University Chorale for three years. She holds a B.A. in Spanish, as well as an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, both from FHU. When she’s not at school, Ms. Thorne enjoys traveling, spending time with her friends, and watching movies. She also enjoys cooking, but rarely has time to. She currently lives in Lewisburg, and enjoys spoiling her niece rotten. |
